Minute Man NHP Announces Military Pass

The following was provided by Minute Man National Historical Park.

The National Park Service has a new annual pass for active military and their dependents for free admission to all 397 national park units. The pass is issued free with proper identification (CAC Card or DD Form 1173.)  It is available at two locations in Minute Man National Historical Park: the Minute Man Visitor Center on Route 2A at the Lincoln/Lexington town line, open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and The Wayside, Home of Authors, at 455 Lexington Road, Concord, open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

More information about the pass is available at http://store.usgs.gov/pass/military.html. This pass also permits free entrance to sites managed by the US Fish & Wildlife Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Reclamation and the US Forest Service.

“This is a particularly special program because of our close relationship with our neighbors Hanscom Air Force Base and the Massachusetts National Guard," said Minute Man Superintendent Nancy Nelson. "We look forward to seeing our service members soon.”

NPS Director Jon Jarvis stated, “Through the years, military members, especially those far from home in times of conflict, have found inspiration in America’s patriotic icons and majestic landscapes that are cared for by the National Park Service and symbolize the nation that their sacrifices protect. This new pass is a way to thank military members and their families for their service and their sacrifice.”

And, please allow me to thank the NPS for the free senior pass. In my opinion, it is one of the nicest benefits that accrue to those of us at the upper end of the age spectrum. Our NPS is the best!
