An Update from LPD on Local Level 3 Sex Offenders
One Level 3 sex offender was arrested this spring for parole violation, and the Lexington Police recently went door-to-door in the neighborhoods where two other Level 3 offenders reside.
The following informaiton was provided by the Lexington Police Department.
On April 30, an alert resident contacted police after observing suspicious behavior by a known level 3 sex offender who resides on North Street. The offender was seen near a school bus stop on Graham Road near the intersection of Whittier Road. As a result of that call, the Probation Department was notified and a joint investigation involving the Lexington Police Department and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Parole Office ensued. After a hearing with the Parole Office, it was deemed that a violation had occurred, and this being a second offence under his lifetime parole, the offender was sentenced to six months in jail. He will be incarcerated until late October, 2012.
The Lexington Police Department recently went door-to-door in the neighborhoods where two other Level 3 sex offenders reside to distribute flyers and notify residents. It has become a common practice for the department to make community notifications bi-annually to residents that live in the vicinity of these offenders due to the seriousness of their crimes and their status as level 3 offenders. The Police Department notifications usually take place at the end of the school year, and prior to Halloween.
It should be noted that these offenders have served the sentence(s) imposed upon them and are not wanted by the police. Should residents have any questions or concerns regarding a sex offender issue, please call Detective Brian Savage or Lieutenant Detective Michael McLean at the Lexington Police Department -781-862-1212.
According to the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board's website, there are six Level 2 and two Level 3 sex offenders living or working in Lexington. You can find information about the Level 3 offenders here.
