A local car wash is offering the opportunity to clean your car for a good cause. 

This weekend, Mass Ave Car Wash is hosting a three-day charitable event in which 50 cents of every $1 will be donated toward Hope International, a faith-based nonprofit that fights poverty with microfinance loans.

According to Greg Thompson, one of the business owners, what attracts Mass Ave Car Wash to this particular charity is the methodology of providing poor families with microfinance loans to enable them to start a business and a better life for their loved ones.

"It's not just a handout," said Thompson. "It's a real approach to ending poverty by giving people a loan and a new start. This method replaces dependency with dignity giving the family the ability 'to fish' rather than just giving them a fish."

Mass Ave Car Wash is located at 27 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington. The three-day charitable weekdn takes place from Oct. 14 to Oct. 16. For more information about Hope International, visit www.hopeinternational.org.
