Festival Night to Light Up Tree and Town Alike
Santa Claus and local authors are coming to town this Friday, while Mass Ave merchants will stay open late and the Lexington Symphony will perform a pair of Holiday Pops concerts.
The holiday season kicks it into high gear this Friday, Nov. 30 when Lexington Center comes alive with the Chamer of Commerce's annual Festival Night and other holiday-themed activities.
Carolers will stroll the streets and indoor musicians will take up instruments at featured locations. Santa Claus will come to town for a holiday tree-lighting ceremony at Depot Square, which begins at 6:30 p.m. with the sounds of the Master Singers of Lexington.
Participating merchants around Lexington Center will offer special prices, discounts, promotional gifts and raffles. The Lexington Symphony will host Holiday Pops concerts at 4 and 8 p.m. over at Cary Hall.
Beginning at noontime at the Lexington Depot, there will be a Holiday Bazaar selling holiday gifts and arrangements, with proceeds to benefit the Lexington Historical Society. Over at Cary Library, the Festival Night celebrations begin at 5 p.m. and include a Holiday Author Book Fair, a silent auction, live music and more.
And down Waltham Street a little ways, the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society’s Holiday Market will open at 10 a.m., with one-of-a-kind gifts like baskets, jewelry, paintings, prints, ceramics, woodworkings, clay creations and more.
