Tuesday, May 22

4:02 a.m. – Firefighters investigated a commercial fire alarm at and reported odor inside 45 Hartwell Avenue. On arrival, companies found al alarm showing an “Electric Room” smoke detector and discovered an electrical motor smell inside the Synta Pharmaceuticals side of the building. The source was determined to be an overheated circular pump in the boiler room. During an investigation of the entire building, firefighters found a Silane alarm on the side of the building was also sounding and the building was vacated as a precaution.

6:57 p.m. – Food on the stove set off a smoke alarm on Fuller Road. Companies called to the scene confirmed the accidental activation due to smoke from cooking.

Wednesday, May 23

2:10 p.m. – Firefighters responded to Baskin Road after an alarm system malfunctioned.

7:24 p.m. – Companies were called to Philip Road for a reported inside odor of gas. The gas company was on the scene, the source was found to be sewer gas, and the resident was advised to make repairs.

Thursday, May 24

1:48 p.m. – Firefighters were notified of a tree limb on a wire on Piper Road.

4:47 p.m. – Companies were called to Marvin Street for an alarm activation caused by food on the stove.

Friday, May 25

4:46 a.m. – Firefighters responded to Waltham Street for an unintentional alarm activation caused by a local alarm resetting itself.

6:19 p.m. – Companies were called to Baskin Road, where basement gas alarm was sounding. According to the incident report, firefighters had previously responded to this location for a prior malfunction and found no readings or apparent hazards.

Saturday, May 26

6:47 a.m. – Firefighters provided mutual aid to Arlington, which had a working fire.

6:24 p.m. – A water problem was reported on Baskin Road. The homeowner was advised to contact a plumber.

Sunday, May 27

1:31 p.m. – A large snapping turtle was found in a window well on Emerson Gardens Road and, according to the incident report, a firefighter “expertly removed the turtle by the tail” and released it into the conservation land abutting Emerson Gardens.
