Fire Incident Reports

Tuesday, Oct. 4

9:36 a.m. – Emergency responders were called to a two-vehicle collision on Waltham Street and one inured person was transported, by Belmont, to Mt. Auburn Hospital.

9:37 a.m. – Firefighters were called to an alarm activation on Vaille Avenue and found a home filled with smoke and an unattended cooking pot on the stove. Responders shut off the stove, ventilated the home and left a note for the resident, who was not there.

11:51 a.m. – Workmen accidentally tripped an alarm while working on Main Campus Drive.

3:57 p.m. – A Harding Road resident reported a downed wire and lost phone service. On arrival, firefighters found a phone wire in the yard and assisted the resident with no further hazards.

Thursday, Oct. 6

11:10 a.m. – Firefighters responded to an outside odor of gas on Sutherland Road and found a slight odor with sporadic readings on the meters. The gas company responded to the scene to handle.

Friday, Oct. 7

7:26 a.m. – Firefighters responded to a report of a dumpster fire behind Alexander’s Pizza on Bedford Street but found that steam from the dry cleaners had been mistaken for smoke.

Saturday, Oct. 8

3:15 p.m. – A hairdryer set off an unintentional alarm activation on Pelham Road.

Sunday, Oct. 9

12:12 p.m. – An unintentional alarm activation called companies to Kendall Road.

4:35 p.m. – A person walked into Fire Headquarters and reported an odor of gas in the parking lot. The problem was in Neillios, where the pilots were out on the gas stove.

5:24 p.m. – A resident made a good intent call reporting the odor of smoke somewhere on Mass Ave. Firefighters found nothing out of the ordinary.
