High school sports, looking ahead to the New Year today in Lexington.
1. Today in Town Government: According to the town website, there are no public meetings posted for today. Also, if you have outstanding business to take care of at a town office, get it done today, because they're all closed Monday in observance of New Years, which falls on Sunday.
2. Today in High School Sports: The Lexington High girls varsity ice hockey team hosts Arlington Catholic at 11 a.m. at the Hayden Ice Arena, while the boys Varsity Ice Hockey hosts Bedford High at 7:30 p.m. at Hayden. At 9 p.m., the LHS girls junior varsity ice hockey team hosts Andover High, also at Hayden.
3. This is Your Two-Week Warning: Nomination papers for offices on the March 6, 2012 Annual Town Election ballot may be obtained from the Town Clerk's Office until 5 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13, 2012.
4. New Year's Eve: Still no plans for Saturday night? Why not ring in the New Year with the Lexington Symphony, which is holding its second annual New Year's Eve Gala from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Cary Hall.
5. Showers Possible: Rain or snow? Who knows? The white stuff is possible between 8 and 10 a.m., before it warms up to a chance of rain as highs hit the mid-40s, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts a cloudy evening with a 40 percent chance of precipitation and overnight lows of 37.
