Five Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 30

Budget presentations, a flu clinic and possible T-storms today in Lexington.

 

1. Budget Presentations Begin: The first of four budget presenations scheduled by the Board of Selectmen is scheduled for 8 a.m. this morning at the Town Office Building. On the agenda for today are presentations from the Recreation, Fire and Public Facilities departments. 

2. Get Your Flu Shots: The Health Division and Lexington Board of Health are hosting a free flu clinic for residents ages 4 and older from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Diamond Middle School.

3. Today in Public Meetings: Additional public meetings posted for today include: The Estabrook Site Council at 3:30 p.m. at that school; the Transportation Governance Committee at 3:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building; the School Committee's Policy Sub-Committee at 7 p.m. at the School Administration Building; the Tourism Committee at 7 p.m. at the Cary Memorial Building; the Planning Board at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building; the Community Center Task Force at 7:30 p.m. at Cary Hall.

4. On This Day In History: In 1803, Spain ceded control of the Louisiana Territory to France; in 1940, Lucille Ball married Desi Arnaz; in 1971, the TV movie "Brian's Song" aired for the first time on ABC, and, in 1993, President Clinton signed the Brady Gun Control Bill. 

5. A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall? You've heard it here before, there's a chance of showers and possible thunderstorms this morning before clearing into a mostly sunny afternoon with highs of 58, according the National Weather Service, which predicts a partly cloudy evening with lows of 35.
