How the Governor's Budget Proposal Would Affect Lexington
The new budget will see a bit of an increase in local aid to Lexington.
Last Wednesday, Governor Patrick submitted his $34.8 billion budget to the Legislature. The proposed income tax hike is part of a comprehensive package aimed at investing in the state's infrastructure and in driving growth, Patrick said.

Under the plan, education aid and general government aid increase for fiscal 2014 over FY13.
Education aid increases more than $3.2 million for FY14, while Chapter 70 education aid alone saw an increase of $3,239,906. General government aid for Lexington increases of $44,571 over FY13.
After factoring in state assesments, total aid to Lexington would increase more than $3 million.
