Out on Bail, Lexington Man Arrested for Robbing Second Burlington Bank

Legendary criminal Willie Sutton said he robbed banks "because that's where the money is." A Lexington man has gone Sutton one better: Burlington is where the money is.

For the second time in two months, the 22-year-old was collared by the law for robbing a banks in or near the Burlington Mall.

John Robert Stocki, of 9 Judges Rd., was apprehended in his hometown on Christmas Eve by law enforcement for allegedly robbing the Brookline Bank at 72 Mall Road on Dec. 20. 

Stocki was arrested for robbing the Bank of America in the Burlington Mall on Oct. 18 and was out on bail awaiting trial for that robbery when he decided to head back to Burlington for another try.

The Burlington Police is now three-for-three (and two-for-two with Stocki) in solving bank robberies in 2012 having made three arrests in the three bank robberies that occurred.

Just over a year ago, on Dec. 9, 2011, Lexington Police arrested Stocki when officers found heroin, syringes and marijuana inside a vehicle he was driving erratically through town before being stopped. 

This was not Stocki’s first run-in with local law enforcement. According to Patch archives, Lexington Police arrested Stocki multiple times last year for theft drug-related offenses, including one instance in which he was charged with shoplifting and possession of a Class A substance after allegedly stealing Chapstick from the CVS on Mass Ave, and a pair of arrests on outside warrants.
