Out on Bail, Lexington Man Arrested for Robbing Second Burlington Bank

Alleged robber targeted Brookline Bank on Dec. 20.

Legendary criminal Willie Sutton said he robbed banks "because that's where the money is." A Lexington man has gone Sutton one better: Burlington is where the money is.

For the second time in two months, the 22-year-old was collared by the law for robbing a banks in or near the Burlington Mall.

John Robert Stocki, of 9 Judges Rd., was apprehended in his hometown on Christmas Eve by law enforcement for allegedly robbing the Brookline Bank at 72 Mall Road on Dec. 20.

Stocki was arrested for robbing the Bank of America in the Burlington Mall on Oct. 18 and was out on bail awaiting trial for that robbery when he decided to head back to Burlington for another try.

The Burlington Police is now three-for-three (and two-for-two with Stocki) in solving bank robberies in 2012 having made three arrests in the three bank robberies that occurred.

Just over a year ago, on Dec. 9, 2011, Lexington Police arrested Stocki when officers found heroin, syringes and marijuana inside a vehicle he was driving erratically through town before being stopped.

This was not Stocki’s first run-in with local law enforcement. According to Patch archives, Lexington Police arrested Stocki multiple times last year for theft drug-related offenses, including one instance in which he was charged with shoplifting and possession of a Class A substance after allegedly stealing Chapstick from the CVS on Mass Ave, and a pair of arrests on outside warrants.

Wow. I thought we Lexingtonians were smarter than that.

I feel terrible for his family.

Usually you just steal through the mail. I feel terrible for the victims and the time wasted by law enforcement.

Do you really believe that geography has anything to do with this man's motivation? Just because we live in a wealthy town does not make us better than others. Would it have made you feel better about yourself if he was from Billerica?

Lexington's young people are suffering in huge numbers. Not all, of course. But many. Drugs, alcohol, sex...stress, stress, stress.

Families can be in denial about their children or at a loss as to how to help. A 10th grader posted on her Twitter account a text between she and her mother. Mom texted something to the effect -- please hide Facebook photos of you drinking from me. I can't handle it.

Money only buys stuff. It does not buy smarts or parenting skills.

I was referring to the quality of our schools. I have found that Lexington tends to graduate a smarter person than this. I feel terrible for him and his parents, and I hope he gets the help he needs.

Recent study shows LHS teens have high stress, risky behaviors and have plenty of money. Drug abuse is rampant, difficult to assess and frustratingly elusive to treat. It does not discriminate against race, religion, education, income or social status. Parents and teachers - stay vigilent, stay alert. Keep your kids safe - you may not have a second chance to save a life. Throw away any prescription medicine you are finished with. Please know pot can be laced with opiates & heroin. Adderall is snorted before SATs. See http://www.cdc.gov. and http://www.mass.gov/eohhs/gov/departments/dmh/. Childrens Hospital has ASAP; McLean has 'The Landing'. Treatment works and teens can be saved!

He should have opened a magic shop and just stole the money from his loyal customers. Oh wait, that's already been done.

This young man has been prescribed unusually high doses of Klonapin and has been sleeping on the streets of Lexington or in the public library. My sense is the library closed for the holiday and he had no were to go. So why not walk into a back with a note AGAIN and get arrested. 3 hots and a cot when you have no options addiction or mental illness and everyone ignores you because they don't know what to do. He's now 23 yrs old and has been in the nightmare of addiction for over 4 yrs.
His family have no skills or understanding in order to deal with this young mans disease or mental state. Who's the quack prescribing these high doses of Klonapin to an addict. He's in a continuous blackout.
