Lexington PD Investigating BB Gun Drive-By
A 20-year-old Lexington man and his girlfriend were walking along Concord Avenue about 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20, when someone in a passing car allegedly fired shots and soda at them.
Police are investigating a reported drive-by BB gun shooting and soda popping that allegedly targeted a Lexington man and his girlfriend Saturday afternoon.
According to a police report, a 20-year-old resident reported that, while he and his girlfriend walked on Concord Avenue, a person in a blue Nissan Maxima fired a BB gun and threw a cup of soda at them.
The man reportedly told police he had no idea about the identity of the alleged triggerman, who reportedly fired the BB gun three times, striking his backpack.
The alleged victim said he “has no idea what sparked it and has no problems with anyone,” according to Lt. Jim Barry, a spokesman for the Lexington Police Department.
From the information available Monday afternoon, it was unclear what kind of BB gun was used, but Barry said there is an open investigation into the alleged drive-by, which could carry a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
“This is a serious crime with the potential to cause serious injury, and that’s the way it’s being investigated right now,” Barry said.
