Looking ahead to 2012: What Will be the Biggest Stories of the Year?

Last week, we looked back on 2011. Now, we turn the focus forward and take a look at 2012. What will the big story in Lexington this year? Take our poll and let us know in the comments section below.

 

A new year starts today and with that comes the promise of endless possibilities and all sorts of stories as we look at what 2012 will hold for Lexington.

From local, state and national elections to school building projects to preparing Lexington's tercentennial celebrations, there's a lot on tap for 2012 -- and that's not even getting into things like Busa Farms, a just-started Fire Department study or the set of significant zoning changes proposed for Lexington Center.

We know we're only scratching the surface here. Ultimately, each individual likely will define the year's biggest story as that which had the most significant impact on his or her lives, be it a storm that knocks out power to a neighborhood, a sports team making a postseason run or changes to a school bus schedule.

So, with that in mind, we want to know, As we turn our focus forward to the year ahead, what are the stories that you think/hope will be big in Lexington in 2012?
