Shooting Stars Skaters Medal at Sectionals
The Hayden Synchronized Skating Shooting Starts Teams took medals at the pre-juvenile and preliminary levels at Eastern Sectionals last month. They'll perform next weekend at the nationals send-off event at Hayden.
The following information was provided as a press relase.
Hayden Synchronized Skating Shooting Stars Teams put on a good performance at Eastern Sectionals in Hershey, Penn., late last month, capturing two first place finishes in the qualifying rounds and moved on to capture a silver and a bronze medal at the Pre Juvenile and Preliminary levels.
The Eastern Sectionals are a US Figure Skating sanctioned event with the top teams in qualifying divisions moving on to the National Championships scheduled to take place in Worcester during the first week of March.
The Shooting Stars Preliminary Team has enjoyed unprecedented success this season. In addition to the third place finish out of 16 teams at the Eastern Sectionals, the team medaled in every competition they skated in this season, including a Bronze medal at the Colonial Classic at Tsongas Arena in Lowell and a gold medal performance at the New England Challenge Cup in Woburn.
The Shooting Stars Pre-Juvenile team also had a terrific season, winning gold at two competitions and pewter at another. The Pre-Juvenile team worked hard all year on their Rango Wild-Wild West program and are very happy with their accomplishments this season.
Both teams are part of Hayden Synchronized Skating teams, an internationally recognized skating club, best known as the home rink for the Haydenettes.
Preliminary teams are made up of skaters aged 9 and 10 and the Pre-Juvenile team is comprised of skaters ranging in age from 9 to 12 years old.
These two teams will perform again, along with all of the Hayden Teams, at Hayden Recreation Centre Ice Rink on Feb. 26, 2012, for the National Championships Send Off. This is a free event and starts at 6 p.m. and runs until about 7:30 p.m.
