Pres. Barack Obama capped off the Democratic National Convention with a speech that highlighted his foreign policy wins, health care reform and immigration reform on Thursday.
Over three nights, Democratic leaders took aim at Republican nominee, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, and his running mate, Congressman Paul Ryan. A number of Massachusetts Democrats spoke at the convention, including Gov. Deval Patrick, Congressional candidate Elizabeth Warren and Sen. John Kerry.
After last week's Republican National Conventon, we asked readers to tell us what they thought of the convention and Romney.

You need to put the depth of the trouble that was left; 3.5 million jobs lost in the last 6 months of Bush's term, 5 Trillion added to the nation's debt under Bush, two wars and a prescription drug plan (none budgeted), banks leveraged to within 3%, a 9% drop in the GNP, an auto industry headed for bankruptcy, healthcare costs eating 16% of GNP, and the Republican Party determined to undermine any progress and any thing that would show something positive. I think he did a remarkable job considering. Please understand when the Republicans had a choice to help the country or their party, they chose party over country.

When I hear someone say he can't stand the president, I think back at the reasons why I hated and distrusted Bush. I never could identify with Bush and his style. I thought he was a puppet for corporations and the wealthy. And I didn't like the way he spoke. Now, I see that and try to measure understand why people react viscerally. I trust Obama and hate seeing him scape-goated for all the problems that exist in our society. I think the man is high-minded and honest and doing a good job, considering all the flack his opposition is giving him. Maybe his style is more international. Our European neighbors admire him. If his style seems "preachy" to you, give the guy a break. We're not all alike. I really don't want to go back to the ways of the past administration ; those policies crippled us. I can't say it all here, but the Clinton speech talked to each point of extreme right Rebublican or Tea Party criticism. I won't talk policy points because you talked gut reaction.

Few politicians deliver their promises on time if they deliver at all. A new political promise gives new hope but no guarantee of anything, especially if it is the promise of a presidential candidate who has to deal with Congress. When you evaluate a political promise you have to put it in the context of many other variables, such as: 1-how did we get to where we are, and what not to do in the future, such as the real cost of wars, 2-the world economy, 3-emerging economies and world competition, 4-the real sources of the national debt, 5-the priorities that reflect the needs of the majority, like jobs, health and education, in a competitive world.

The Entire DNC had great speakers and a very consistent theme, and they were totally devoted to electing the President. Mission and Emotion. Many of the RNC speakers seemed to be positioning themselves for 2016. Not much inner love for Romney.

He aced it. He might not have done a great job the first
go around, but, under the circumstances with what he
was left, He did well. AND, I truly feel he now is able to
to keep the growth with an AMERICAN SPIRIT that just does
not exist with the Romney Team. After all, he is the President and he
knows a lot more and with Biden, they do have a handle
on Foreign Affairs. Romney, I do not think so !!!!!! Vouchers,
I do not think so...... etc etc etc. Let's give this President the
support that he deserves.

To call that a documentary is stretching it. It's simply appeasing those who think the President was born elsewhere. Get over, he's an American, and he's the President. You can believe that crap if you want to, and you can also believe the moon is made of cheese too. If you want some smoke an mirrors, google "Son of Boss", the scheme hatched by Marriott to declare $70 million in fictitious losses. The IRS sued Marriott and fined them $120 million. The head of Marriott's audit committee, who approved the fraudulent return was Mitt Romney. Smoke & Mirrors might more accurately describe Romney's basic attitude regarding tax obligations.

Hopefully, for his next term, the "oposition" will put the good of the country ahead of their own plans for national donmination. I still remember Mitch McConnel's speech saying that the first job of the republicans was to defeat the President. So much for concern for the average American!
