Lexington takes on Wakefield in full slate of games, despite more snow.

Mother Nature dumped more snow on the region this week, but the Lexington High School athletic teams were able to play through the inclement weather – for once.

Patch started the week off with a pair of conversations with LHS basketball players. On Sunday, we talked with girls' senior captain Amanda Bouchard. That was followed with a question-and-answer session with boys’ captain Demetri Monovoukas on Monday.

Those conversations set the stage for Lexington’s Coaches vs. Cancer benefit fundraiser.

The Minutemen celebrated the night with double-header sweep over Middlesex League rival Wakefield Memorial High School. Lexington’s girls’ team set the tone by cruising past Wakefield for a 21-point victory. Not to be outdone, the boys’ also picked up a victory, beating Wakefield by 11.

On Wednesday, the Lexington girls’ hockey team held off Wakefield at Kasabuski Arena in Saugus. The Minutemen held the Warriors scoreless entering the third quarter and held on for a two-goal win.

Unfortunately, the boys’ hockey team couldn’t keep Lexington’s winning streak alive on Thursday night. Wakefield snapped its skid against the Minutemen with a big 8-1 victory.
