Sports Week in Review, July 16 - July 22
A recap look at the games and stories Patch covered in and around Lexington this week.
The Summer Bay State Games continued around the region earlier this week, with at least one Lexington resident helping out the Metro squad.
Michelle Feenstra, a rising sophomore at Lexington Christian Academy, was on the field for Metro’s girls’ lacrosse team when it handed the Northeast/Central team a loss last Saturday. One of just two rising sophomores on the Metro team, Feenstra didn’t score in her squad’s 18-11, but did plenty to contribute.
On Thursday, Patch caught up with LHS golfer Jason Tzannes. Not only did he recently take first place in a Junior PGA Tour event in Gardner, but he did so while hobbled with a knee injury. Tzannes will be entering his senior year for the Minutemen in the fall.
On Wednesday, the Lexington Blue Sox picked up their fifth straight Intercity League victory by beating the Arlington Trojans at LHS.
On Friday, the Lexington Post 38 American Legion baseball team continued play in the District 5 Chairman’s Cup. With one loss in the double elimination tournament, Post 38 tried to prolong its season with a victory over Concord Post 158.
