Three Bridge School Students Awarded in Bookmark Contest
Students awarded at State House ceremony March 28.
The following information is from Lynnette Allen, Bridge Elementary School library teacher:
Three students at Bridge Elementary School were honored at a ceremony at the State House in Boston on March 28, as winners in a statewide bookmark contest sponsored by the Massachusetts School Library Association (MSLA).
The ceremony was held in conjunction with Library Legislative Day, an event sponsored by school and public libraries from across the state.
Anna Schroeder, Andrea Martinez and David Yi submitted bookmark designs in the local contest held at Bridge School, sponsored by Lynnette Allen, school library teacher.
The theme of the contest was ‘Think. . . Create. . . Share. . . Grow.’ Nine local bookmark winners were submitted to the statewide contest. For the third consecutive year, Bridge designs were chosen for honors.
- Anna Schroeder, a kindergartner, was chosen as the statewide winner in Division 1. Her bookmark design was chosen by a panel of notable authors and illustrators as the best design submitted by all kindergartner through first graders in the state.
- Andrea Martinez, grade 3, was awarded an Honorable Mention for Division 2 (grades 2-3).
- David Yi, grade 5, was awarded an Honorable Mention for Division 3 (grades 4-6).
This was a tremendous honor for all of the students and they are understandably proud of their work. Attending the ceremony with Anna, Andrea and David were 10 family members, Mrs. Allen, and Margaret Colella, Bridge School principal.
