VIDEO: Firefighters Battle Blaze on Hancock Street in Lexington
A two-alarm fire engulfed a single-family home on Hancock Street on Saturday, Dec. 3 and firefighters from Lexington and several area departments had to battle the blaze from the outside in.
Firefighters from Lexington and surrounding departments spent Saturday night extinguishing a two-alarm fire that tore through a single-family home on Hancock Street.
According to Lexington Fire Captain Bud Raithel, fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze, which was reported as a basement fire, but quickly spread to the first floor and rear of the house.
After LFD struck a second alarm, right around 8 p.m., assistance came from departments in Arlington, Bedford, Burlington, Hanscom Air Force Base and Waltham. As of nearly 11 p.m., fire apparatuses still lined Hancock Street, though firefighters had completed their exterior operations and moved into overhaul.
