As if the vendors and holiday décor weren’t enough, an added highlight of yesterday’s Thanksgiving FEASTival at Seasons Four were the buskers from the Lexington High School choral program.
The high school’s select ensembles—including the madrigal singers and an a cappella group—performed during the Thanksgiving market as part of their fundraising efforts for a European trip this April.
The trip would see about 80 students from the Lexington High School choral program will be traveling to Finland, Sweden and Estonia this spring at upwards of $3,500 per student.
According to choral director Jason Iannuzzi, about one-fourth of students are seeking partial aid for the trip, and organizers would like to raise enough money to lower the price for other students and chaperones.
In addition to singing at the Farmers Market’s Thanksgiving FEASTival, Iannuzzi said the group is holding a gala dinner at the Lexington Depot in January, will host a sing-off competition for local a cappella groups and will screen the documentary the “Singing Revolution” about Estonia’s singing for liberty.
