From the opening ceremonies to the procession through town to the Afterburner performance to the all-town photograph and on to the Country Fair, Race Through Time and Chamber of Commerce's 19th annual Autumn Fine Arts and Crafts Festival, there was a lot to see and do during the opening day of what will be a nine-month celebration of Lexington's 300th anniversary year.

In the Fair tent, there were multiple food stands selling food and drink, but no recycling containers. I guess in 300 years we haven't progressed much.

DPW had placed recyclable recycling containers in various areas all around inside the tent area and also outside of the tent area. These were cardboard containers, one style with only a plastic liner for changing out purposes, and the other one with a top on it that was clearly marked for recycling.
Some people came early, before the actual start time when only a minimum number of containers were in place. By noon, however, DPW had returned with an increased number of waste and recycling containers.
We are sorry you missed those containers.
