Weekly Police Log: Man Arrested for Stealing Chapstick; Youths Drinking in Woods Reported

Incidents and arrests, Sept. 20 - Sept. 26

 

Sunday, Sept. 26

6:56 a.m. – A criminal process was served on Katahdin Drive.

12:46 a.m. – Tree limbs hanging in the road were reported on Waltham Street.

1:13 p.m. – An accident occurred on Waltham Street.

2:44 p.m. – A dog was reported running loose on Woburn Street.

9:17 p.m. – A Lowell Street driver was cited for driving an unregistered and uninsured car, and with a plate violation.

 

Saturday, Sept. 25

2:50 a.m. – Suspicious activity of a man sitting in a car in front of a building was reported on Lexington Ridge Drive. The car was gone when police arrived.

3:08 a.m. – Police checked on a report of an overdue woman on Woodland Road

8:03 a.m. – A parking complaint was reported on Mass Avenue at Meriam Street.

10:40 a.m. – Items were stolen from an unlocked garage and two cars inside the garage on Fox Run Lane. An Ipod Nano and cash were taken from one car, and an Ipod was taken from the second car, police said.

12:40 p.m. – Solicitors entering a rear yard were reported on Castle Road.

12: 53 p.m. – A parking complaint was reported on Meriam Street.

6:33 p.m. – Police checked on a persons trying to get into a car in Municipal Lot 3.

7:07 p.m. – A hit-and-run accident with property damage was reported as having occurred on Waltham Street at Marrett Road earlier in the day. Minor damage was caused.

8:22 p.m. – A domestic dispute was reported on Stedman Road.

 

Friday, Sept. 24

8:35 a.m. – A suspicious car was reported on Massachusetts Avenue. It belonged to a person doing work at a home.

10:34 a.m. – A wire was reported down on Taft Avenue.

1:20 p.m. – A person on Park Drive was cited for marijuana possession.

2:06 p.m. – A parking complaint was reported on Mass Avenue.

2:40 p.m. – A Waltham Street driver was cited for a traffic violation and having an expired registration.

3:23 p.m. – Police checked on an elderly woman on Mass Avenue.

4:10 p.m. – Police checked on a report of an elderly man hitchhiking on Bedford Street.

4:54 p.m. – A car was reported disabled on Mass Avenue at Depot Square.

5:32 p.m. – A car blocking a lane of traffic was reported on North Street.

6:28 p.m. – An accident occurred on Pleasant Street.

7:16 p.m. – Police checked on a report of youths gathering on a front lawn on Bryant Street. The youths were gone when police arrived.

8:16 p.m. – Police checked on a report of youths possibly drinking on conservation land on Oak Street. Police found empty beer cans, however the youths had left.

8:42 p.m. – Police checked the Oak Street area again after a report that the youths had returned. Police found five young people who denied having been on the conservation land.

10:24 p.m. – A disturbance was reported on Maple Street.

 

Thursday, Sept. 23

7:35 a.m. – A town bylaw violation of idling was reported on Robbins Road.

12:27 p.m. – A bicycle was reported as stolen from Depot Square.

12:43 p.m. – A wire was reported down on Worthen Road.

2:05 p.m. – A parking complaint was received from Waltham Street.

2:25 p.m. – A cell phone was found on Wilson Road.

3:04 p.m. – A sign pole was reported down on Watertown Street.

3:56 p.m. – Money was stolen from an unlocked safe in an office at Mario's on Mass Avenue. $200 to $300 was stolen. Police are investigating.

4:07 p.m. – A low-hanging wire was reported on Taft Avenue.

5:15 p.m. – A parking complaint was reported on Hibbert Street.

5:34 p.m. – A Lexington man was arrested on Bedford Street, police said. Timothy J. Devine, 54, of 40 Vaille Ave., was charged on a warrant for violating a restraining order, police said.

6:20 p.m. – A car was reported as disabled on Woburn Street.

6:36 p.m. – A civil dispute was reported on Bedford Street.

6:52 p.m. – Arlington police issued a BOLO (Be on the lookout for) on a nanny reported missing. 

8:23 p.m. – A dog complaint was reported on Mass Avenue.

 

Wednesday, Sept. 22

1:52 a.m. – A well-being check was conducted by police on Reed Street.

5:28 a.m. – A burglary was reported at the Dunkin Donuts on Mass Avenue in East Lexington. A rear door was forced open and two cash registers containing $175 each were taken. A box with $200 in change was also stolen. Police are investigating.

8:25 a.m. – An erratic driver was reported on Bedford Street.

9:11 a.m. – A bicycle was found that was left for several days on Mass Avenue in the center.

12:36 p.m. – A hit-and-run accident with property damage was reported on Pleasant Street. No injuries were reported. Police are investigating.

12:42 p.m. – An accident occurred on Mass Avenue.

1:42 p.m. – A suicide was reported on Volunteer Way. Officials are investigating.

2:12 p.m. – A criminal process was served on Pearl Street.

2:29 p.m. – A Lexington man was arrested after stealing Chapstick at CVS on Mass Avenue, police said. John Robert Stocki, 20, of 16 Webster St. was charged with shoplifting by asportation and possession of a Class A substance, police said. 

3:32 p.m. – An incident that occurred on Sept. 17 was reported to police. Two Lexington High School students reported a male student exposed himself to them on Park Drive, near the high school. Police are investigating.

4:49 p.m. – Suspicious activity was reported on Hill Street.

5:31 p.m. – A car was reported on an access road on Mass Avenue.

8:42 p.m. – A criminal process was served on Cushing Street.

8:55 p.m. – A witness summons was served on Pleasant Street.

10:33 p.m. – A fireworks complaint was received from Main Campus Drive.

 

Tuesday, Sept. 21

7:19 p.m. – An argument was reported on Reed Street.

7:50 a.m. – An accident was reported on Walnut Street.

10:26 a.m. – A cat was reported on a roof on Arcola Street.

12:37 a.m. – Vandalism was reported at Willard's Woods on North Street. A Conservation Commission member reported a plastic pamphlet holder had been broken between Sept. 19 and 21.

2:36 p.m. – A criminal process was served on Mass Avenue.

3:07 p.m. – A bike was found on Camellia Place.

3:10 p.m. – Arlington police issued a BOLO on a missing person.

4:32 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at CVS on Mass Avenue. Two juveniles were caught stealing bottles of soda, police said. The juveniles were given a no-trespass notice and told they are not welcome in the store. Their parents were also notified.

5:39 p.m. – A disabled car was reported on Mass Avenue.

8:50 p.m. – A construction company notified police it would be parking a bulldozer for use in a project.

8:58 p.m. – An erratic driver was reported on Bedford Street.

9:10 p.m. – A dispute was reported over a fare between a cab driver and customer on Woburn Street. Police helped resolve the issue.

9:14 p.m. – A report of kids gathering in the woods and believed to be drinking on Cutler Farm Road was received. Police found empty beer cans but no one in the area.

11:26 p.m. – An attempt was made to siphon gas from a car on Emerson Gardens Road. A resident reported seeing two men near a car, and when the resident approached, the men fled in a small black car. Two milk jugs and a rubber hose was found.

 

Monday, Sept. 20

8:05 a.m. – A parking complaint was received from Lincoln Street.

9:06 a.m. – Mutual aid was requested in Waltham.

10:28 a.m. – A lost dog was reported on Suzanne Road.

10:30 a.m. – A possible sick raccoon was reported on Douglas Road.

11:17 a.m. – A women's handbag was found on Bedford Street.

11:45 a.m. – A car was reported disabled on Rte. 2 west.

12:15 p.m. – A Public Works sign was reported missing on Blueberry Lane.

4:55 p.m. – A well-being check was conducted by police on Hill Street.

7:16 p.m. – A bicycle was reported stolen at Depot Square.

7:30 p.m. – Credit card fraud was reported on Fern Street.

9:08 p.m. – A breaking and entering was reported at the Naz Kupelian Salon on Woburn Street. A person was seen inside the salon after hours. There was no sign of forced entry. $100 was missing from the register.

11:07 p.m. – Property was found on Mass Avenue.
