William Diamond Jr. Fife and Drum Corp to Muster at MMNHP
The 10th Annual Colonial Concert and Muster will be held May 5 at the Minute Man Visitor Center on the Lexington-Lincoln line.
The following announcement was provided by Minute Man National Historical Park.
The William Diamond Junior Fife and Drum Corp will present their 10th annual Fife and Drum Muster at the Minute Man Visitor Center in Lexington. Enjoy a colorful festival of Lexington’s colonial heritage with performances by more than 25 uniformed fife and drum corps, as well as artisans and period re-enactors.
In the past 10 years, the William Diamond Juniors have been invited to perform in celebrated venues such as the USS Constitution, Colonial Williamsburg, Switzerland, the Democratic National Convention, Sturbridge Village, and the New York City 250th Anniversary St. Patrick Day’s Parade.
In 2002, when the corps began, these young musicians first performed on Lexington’s Historic Battle Green. Currently, the William Diamond Junior Fife & Drum Corps is recognized as one of the premier youth groups of its kind, and has a full schedule planned for its 10th anniversary year, with events both near and far. These include local favorites such as the Bedford Pole Capping, Lexington’s Patriots’ Day Parades, and the Lincoln Salute. In addition, the corps will travel out of state and internationally as they represent Lexington and keep our nation’s historic fife and drum musical tradition alive and strong.
From 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, in collaboration with Minute Man National Historical Park, the William Diamond Junior Fife & Drum Corps will host its 10th Annual Colonial Concert and Muster. Come be entertained by the music of the fifes and drums as you are transported into the 18th century.
The Minute Man Visitor Center is on Route 2A at the Lincoln/Lexington town line, just west of I-95/Route 128 exit 30B. Admission is free. For further information call 978-318-7825 or visit www.nps.gov/mima.
