The following is a press release provided by the Lexington Players.
On August 5 and 6, the Lexington Players YouthStage team will premiere its newest project "Once on This Island Jr.," a Caribbean-centered production highlighting the challenges of love, family and fate.
The Lexington Players theater program, which has put on successful shows such as "A Christmas Story," "A Wonderful Life," and most recently "Godspell Jr," is currently preparing the tropical performance with its summer participants, kids ranging from 9 to 15.
The production features a wide array of classic musical numbers such as "We Dance," "Come Down from the Tree" and "Pray," making this family-friendly act memorable to all. The YouthStage performers, who come from local cities and towns, such as Lexington, Carlisle, Arlington and Waltham, have already started preparing for the August event by getting a head start on choreography and rehearsing their lines.
Stop by The Hancock Church on August 5 at 7 p.m. or August 6 at 3 p.m. to see this creative performance come to life. Tickets are $10.00 and will be sold at the door on the night of the event or at the nearby Crafty Yankee and Wales Copy Center. Additionally, tickets will be available online at lexingtonplayers.org/ticketstage starting July 20.
