Musings from Jai - The Dinner Daily

Happy Wednesday. Add a little spice to your day with musings from Jai.

I have just been diagnosed with Food Boredom. Well actually, this is not a new condition, but one that flares up from time to time. And I bring it on myself.

The symptoms?

Needing to eat a different meal each day. Gagging at the thought of left-overs. Burning eyes from hours pouring over cookbooks and recipe sights looking for something new and something the whole family will eat. I know, it’s serious. Especically because I want to cook healthy, tasty, from scratch meals for my family each night  (and maybe even impress). The husband and kids don’t care if we eat pasta again ... they know I am busy, and they like pasta. But we had it a few nights ago and I’m no broken record.

Tooling around the Internet for recipes, I think I may have discovered a gold mine: The Dinner Daily.

They had me at “…. created as a means to end the weeknight dinner rut. Cooking healthy meals is a priority for many families, but active lifestyles can challenge this wish."

SIGN ME UP!

Not only does The Dinner Daily offers weeknight meal planning but bases recipes on specials at several New England based grocery stores.

The meal plans provided via email after a quick sign-up are written so the total cost for five dinners and one or two sides, averages $85 for a family of four to six people. You can customize couapon searches as well. The first time I did a coupon searches I saved $6! Not bad.

The best part of this service is the hours of time I save by not having to plan and write out a shopping list. It’s a treat to hit Stop & Shop once or twice a week instead of my usual 4 or 5, which I realize I am out of something I need to make a recipe and I am too far along to switch gears. Ah, a plan ... it’s nice to have one  in at least one aspect of my life.

I almost left out the VERY BEST part…All the above for  $5/month!!

What’s for dinner tonight? I couldn’t make up my mind and dinner is  in 15 minutes, I give up. I’m calling for Chinese.

Now, we just need someone to MAKE the dinner, right? I love the idea of avoiding the paralysis of figuring out what to make...such a pain. Great blog! :)
