Cary Memorial Library Launches Science Cafe Series

Science Café events bring local scientists face-to-face with the general public, for a lively and interactive scientific discussion, in a casual setting. All Science Café events are free, and are open to all ages--- from teenagers to retirees.  No science background is required.  All you need is an interest in science and a willingness to join in the conversation.

Cary Library is very excited to have Dr. Angela Belcher as the special guest scientist for the 'kickoff' of the Science Cafe series. Dr. Belcher is currently W.M. Keck Professor of Energy in Materials Science and Engineering and Biological Engineering at MIT.  Her primary research focus is evolving new materials for energy, electronics and the environment.

Cary Library wishes to thank Dr. Jagesh Shah, Associate Professor of Systems Biology at Harvard University, for agreeing to serve as moderator for the Science Cafe.The Science Cafe @ Cary Library is generously underwritten by the Cary Memorial Library Foundation.

Cary Memorial Library was renovated and expanded, reopening in April 2004, with a larger children's room, more public service spaces, enhanced meeting rooms and technological advances. There is a meeting room that seats 125 people, and numerous quiet study areas available. The library also offers a children's room, young adult collection, adult fiction and non-fiction collections, reference materials and a range of audiovisual material.
