 ne was the first woman to play professional baseball. Since  women&rsquo
 \;s leagues of the 1940's and 50's refused her eligibility due to  the c
 olor of her skin\, Stone ended up playing alongside men in the Negro  Le
 ague.&nbsp\; In this program\, author Martha Ackmann&nbsp\;will discuss 
 the racism  and sexism that Stone endured and will chronicle Stone's str
 uggles and  victories\, revealing how far passion\, pride\, and determin
 ation can take  one person in pursuit of their dream.&nbsp\;   Martha Ac
 kmann is a journalist\, author\, and editor who writes about women who h
 ave changed America. A much sought after public speaker\, she has spoken
  at libraries\, colleges and universities across America. In addition to
  writing and public speaking\, Dr. Ackmann is also a member of the facul
 ty at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley\,Massachusetts.
