entary film club in October 2011\, with over 1.3 million people tuning i
n to its multiple airings. Additional screenings with corporations\, non
-profits\, religious groups\, government organizations and communities a
re happening every day all over the world.\nLocal Screening:&nbsp\; Ther
e will be a local screening of Miss Representation on March 9th at 7:30
p.m. at Hancock United Church of Christ\, 1912 Massachusetts Ave\, Lexin
gton.&nbsp\; Tickets are $5 at the door. After the screening\, there wil
l be community panel discussion.\nThe media is invited to attend the scr
eening and cover the post-screening panel discussion.&nbsp\; If you woul
d like to attend\, please contact Rev. Dana Allen Walsh\, dana.allenwals
h@hancockchurch.org\, 781.862.4220.\nWritten and directed by Jennifer Si
ebel Newsom\, Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media contribut
e to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influen
ce in America.&nbsp\; The film challenges the media's limited and often
disparaging portrayals of women and girls\, which make it difficult for
women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel
powerful herself.\nMiss Representation includes stories from teenage gir
ls and provocative interviews with politicians\, journalists\, entertain
ers\, activists and academics like Condoleezza Rice\, Lisa Ling\, Nancy
 Pelosi\, Katie Couric\, Rachel Maddow\, Rosario Dawson\, Jackson Katz\,
Jean Kilbourne\, and Gloria Steinem.&nbsp\; The film offers startling fa
cts and statistics that will leave audiences shaken and armed with a new
  perspective. Learn more at&nbsp\; www.missrepresentation.org.\n&ldquo\;
We are thrilled to have so many outreach opportunities for&nbsp\;Miss Re
presentation. This film was made to be a change agent in our culture\, t
o inspire both women and men to recognize women's collective voice\, lea
dership capacity and equal rights\,&rdquo\; says Newsom.\nIn a society w
here media is the most persuasive force shaping cultural norms\, the col
lective message that our young women and men overwhelmingly receive is t
hat a woman&rsquo\;s value and power lie in her youth\, beauty\, and sex
uality--and not in her capacity as a leader. While women have made strid
es in leadership over the past few decades\, the U.S. is 90th in the wor
ld in terms of women in national legislatures\, women hold only 3 % of c
lout positions in mainstream media\, and 65% of women and girls have dis
ordered eating.\nMiss Representation was selected from the Sundance line
-up to be part of the OWN Documentary Film Club. &ldquo\;Through persona
l stories and provocative interviews\, Jennifer crystalizes the relevanc
e of the media and its portrayal of women in today&rsquo\;s society\,&rd
quo\; said Lisa Erspamer\, Chief Creative Officer for OWN. In addition\,
ro*co films will distribute Miss Representation to educational institut
ions (K-12 institutions\, universities and libraries) located in the Uni
ted States and Canada.\nThe distribution of the film Miss Representation
has been the catalyst for a social action campaign led by Miss Represen
tation.org. The campaign seeks to empower women and girls and provide th
em with new opportunities to realize their full potential.\nMiss Represe
ntation.org is igniting a cross-generational movement to shift the cultu
ral mindset of communities\, interrupt and stop patterns of sexism\, cha
nge the way women and girls are represented in the media and ensure a ti
pping point that will lead to gender parity in leadership throughout the
United States. Join the campaign at www.missrepresentation.org.\n&nbsp\
 ;\nAbout Girls&rsquo\; Club Entertainment\nGirls' Club Entertainment was
founded by Jennifer Siebel Newsom - actress\, filmmaker\, and former Fi
rst Lady of San Francisco.&nbsp\; It was formed as an umbrella entertain
ment company to develop and produce independent films with strong social
