 n exciting art exhibit\, &ldquo\;Our Shared Planet\, The Animal Kingdom 
 Portrayed&rdquo\;\, will be on display at Lexington Arts and Crafts Soci
 ety&rsquo\;s Parsons Gallery.&nbsp\;\nThis exhibit is in partnership wit
 h Mass Audubon.\nOur undeniable connection with the animal kingdom has i
 nspired artists through the ages since cave paintings.\n&nbsp\;Eighteen 
 invited nationally known artists working in mediums from traditional pai
 ntings to cutting edge materials are exhibiting works ranging from birds
  and dogs to African wildlife and sea creatures.\nThe goal is to raise a
 wareness of our human connection with animals\, both domestic and wild.\
 nA portion of the proceeds from sales of the art will go to the Massachu
 setts Audubon Society.\n&nbsp\;Christopher Leahy currently holds the Ger
 ard A. Bertrand Chair of Natural History and Field Ornithology at Mass A
 udubon. He has been a professional conservationist for more than thirty 
 years and served as Director of Mass Audubon&rsquo\;s Center for Biologi
 cal Conservation. His interests in natural history are comprehensive\, a
 nd he is a recognized authority on birds and insects. His published work
 s include Birdwatcher's Companion to North American Birdlife\, The First
  Guide to Insects\, Introduction to New England Birds\, An Introduction 
 to Massachusetts Insects\, and The Nature of Massachusetts. He is also t
 he editor of a series of authoritative books on the flora and fauna of N
 ew England. Chris has designed and led natural history explorations to o
 ver 70 countries on all of the continents. He is especially fascinated w
 ith the world's great remaining wilderness areas and biodiversity hot sp
 ots such as Gabon\, Madagascar\, and Mongolia. He grew up in Marblehead 
 and has lived in Gloucester with his family since the 1970s.\n&nbsp\;The
  Lexington Arts and Crafts Society is a non-profit 501(c) (3) regional e
 ducation organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of exc
 ellence in both the traditional and contemporary arts and crafts.
