5 Things: Bicentennial Band, 'Frozen in Time' Book Discussion

A quick look at what you need to see, do and know on July 9 in Lexington.

1. Lexington Bicentennial Band Summer Concert Series: At 7:15 p.m. tonight, Lexington's Bicentennial Band will perform in the bandstand at Hastings Park. The concerts are free and open to the public, and programs include marches, show tunes, Dixieland and classical arrangements for band. Bring a blanket, chair, picnic dinner and bug spray.

2. Today in Public MeetingsAccording to the town website, public meetings posted for today include the ad hoc Townwide Facilities Master Planning Committee at 8:30 a.m. at the DPW Building, the Lexington Housing Partnership's HHP Subcommittee at 9:15 a.m. at Panera and the Northeast Homeland Security Regional Advisory Council at 9:30 a.m. in Tewksbury. 

3. "An Epic Story of Survival:" At 7 p.m. tonight at Cary Memorial Library, award-winning author Mitchell Zuckoff will discuss his book "Frozen in Time." Registration is required, and you can sign up in person at the Reference Desk, or by phone at 781-862-6288 ext 250.

5. Little Cooler, Slight Chance of Rain: Should be a bit cooler today, with a high of 81 and 50 percent chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts patchy fog overnight and a low of 65.
