5 Things: Carnival Opens, Independence Day Crafts

A quick look at what you need to see, do and know on July 2 in Lexington.

1. An Independence Day Storytime and CraftAt 10:30 a.m. this morning at Elephant's Trunk, they'll be reading "Red, White, and Boom" by Lee Wardlaw and making Independence wands to wave at the fireworks. 

2. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, public meetings posted for today include a Lexington Housing Partnership Committee meeting at 9:15 a.m. at Panera and the Conservation Commission at 7:30 p.m. at the town Office Building. 

3. Lions Club Fourth of July Carnival Opens Today: The Lexington Lions Club's annual Fourth of July Carnival opens today, July 2, at 6 p.m. Check out a full schedule here.

5. Showers, Maybe: There's a chance of heavy showers today with a high of 81, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts more of the same overnight and a low of 68.
