A Zambian dinner will be served at 6 p.m. this Saturday evening at Pilgrim Congregational Church as the Lexington-based volunteer organization Room at the Table hosts an event to benefit Communities Without Borders.
CWB is a non-governmental organization dedicated to educating orphans and other vulnerable children in Zambia and, as such, the benefit evening will feature an authentic, home-cooked Zambian meal along with the chance to experience the country’s music and culture. There will be a craft table for children, Zambian crafts for sale and a chance to learn more about Communities Without Borders from founder Richard Bail, according to a press release announcing the event.
“We are pleased to be partnering with Room at the Table to raise awareness and funding for CWB’s work in Zambia,” Lexington resident and CWB treasurer Tom Murphy said in the press release. “Beyond raising funds, we look forward to strengthening the relationships that already exist between Boston-area communities and the communities around the Zambian capital of Lusaka.”
Reservations are not required to attend the dinner and fundraising event, but donations equivalent to the cost of a restaurant meal are suggested.
