By Richard Hosford and Joan S. Dentler

According to a report by CBS News MoneyWatch on its website, cbsnews.com, Lexington is one of the nation's hottest suburbs and is the hottest in Massachusetts.

The real estate firm Coldwell Banker has studied more that 1,500 suburbs and has designated Lexington as Massachusetts' top 'burb in terms of economic and population growth. (Note: A population level of 22,275 population was required for inclusion in the survey.)

The CBS News article says rankings are based on a number of factors, but focused on employment rates, both year-over-year increases and overall unemployment that fall well below the national norm.

Other factors that led to Lexington's position on the list are suburban staples such as grocery stores (lots in the area), shopping (some in town, lots nearby), banks (yup) and entertainment (check); proximity to good schools (yes!); light commute times (well sort of) and low crime (yes).
