Neighbors Complain About Noise After Trees Removed from Rte. 2

Residents living near Rte. 2 in Concord and Lincoln complain that the road project on the highway has removed the trees that used to provide a buffer for sound and light.

The project begins at Bedford Street in Lincoln and goes past Sandy Pond Road in Concord. People have called for a sound barrier, but no federal funds are available for such a project because it does not meet federal requirements, according to a story in the Boston Globe.

In all, the project took down trees on about 25 acres of land and the state took over 10 properties. The goal of the project is to relieve traffic congestion and make it safer for westbound drivers when the come around Crosby’s Corner.
