Stay Healthy - Get a Free Flu Shot

The flu season peaks in February so be prepared.

Stay healthy this flu season by getting a free flu shot from the Lexington Health Division.

In Massachusetts the flu season typically peaks in February, a notice on the town website states. So protect yourself and your loved ones with a free flu clinic on Wednesday, Jan. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Avalon at Lexington Hills Community Room, 1000 Main Campus Drive. The vaccines are available to everyone over the age of three.

"So far this year, the Town of Lexington Office of Community Development, Health Division, Public School Nurses, Lexington Medical Reserve Corps volunteers and the Board of Health have vaccinated over 2,300 residents against influenza," the release states. "Getting a flu vaccine not only offers protection for yourself, but it can also prevent you from spreading the flu to others, especially those who may be more vulnerable, such as young children, pregnant women, and those people dealing with chronic medical conditions. Be a good neighbor and help keep yourself and Lexington healthy by getting your free flu vaccine."

Important information

All vaccines will be provided at the upcoming clinic free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring your insurance card as the Town of Lexington can be reimbursed at no charge to you. If you plan to receive the flu shot, please wear loose fitting, or short-sleeved clothing. Please be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes after receiving a vaccine, especially if this is your first time receiving flu vaccine.
