Historical Society to Host Vocal Auditions for New Audio Tour

By lending your voice to the Lexington Historical Society for an upcoming audio tour.

There’s no time like the present to be a part of history.

This Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Lexington Historical Society is holding an open casting call for voice actors to portray colonial characters for a prototype audio tour being developed for Buckman Tavern.

One of the society’s three historic homes in Lexington, the Buckman Tavern is famous for being the site where Capt. Parker and his militia gathered to await the arrival of the British Regulars on the morning of April 19, 1775.

According to the Historical Society’s website, local filmmaker Rick Beyer—who you might remember from his Ghost Army documentary, exhibit and surprise appearance on the Battle Green—is producing the audio tour project.

“We’re looking for a variety of voices to portray tavern-goers, teenage militiamen, British redcoats, Lexington selectmen and others,” Beyer said, according to the website. “We’re also on the lookout for some authentic British accents to portray the British officers.”

The casting call will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lexington Depot

All who are interested in participating are invited to audition, which involves recording a few sentences. The audio tour will be funded in part through grants from the Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati and Mass Humanities, State-Based Affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, according to the Historical Society website.
