Young Lexington Inventor to Pitch Animal Shelter App at Local 'Shark Tank' Like Competition

Sahil Belgaonkar, 14, of Lexington, has developed an app that helps people find the perfect pet in any shelter in the country.

A young Lexington entrepreneur will be presenting his unique app at a local pitch contest this week. 

On October 3rd, the Merrimack Valley Sandbox will be holding their All Ideas Welcome Pitch Contest.  his will be their final pitch contest of the year. During the contest, eight entrepreneur finalists will square off in front of a panel of special guest judges for thousands of dollars in cash prizes and feedback from industry pros.

One of the finalists pitching will be Sahil Belgaonkar, a 14-year-old student in Lexington who has developed an app that helps people find the perfect pet in any shelter in the U.S., a release states. Belgaonkar will be the youngest person to ever pitch at a Sandbox contest.

Here are some of the other finalist:

Christina Hamilton (Lowell resident) - 
Delightful Surprise Sweets: gourmet fudge made by physically and mentally challenged individual

Mickey Cockrell (Born and raised in Lowell) - 
Catie’s Closet: non-profit providing clothing and basic necessities to homeless school children in Lowell and surrounding cities

Orlando Torres (Lowell resident/Lawrence Public School teacher) - 
The Best Part of Planet Earth: Grows fresh and healthy food in school gardens and delivers to urban communities
