1. Nathaniel Hawthorne - The Haunted Mind

Why Go: Because the perfect way to spend Friday the 13th, is to join Nathaniel Hawthorne, as portrayed by literary historian and playwright Rob Velella, as he reads some of his short works which explore the dark side of human nature.
2. Summer Concert Series in Lexington Center
Where/When: Lexington Visitors Center, 1875 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington; 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 13
Why Go: Because tonight's the opening night of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce's annual Summer Concert Series, held outdoors on the Lexington Visitors Center lawn through Aug. 31. .
3. Exhibition: "Ropewalks of the West End and Beyond"
Where/When: West End Museum, 150 Staniford St, Boston; 12 to 4 p.m.; Friday, July 13 and Saturday, July 14
Why Go: This exhibit highlights the story of Robewalks, the unusual buildings that housed rope-making facilities during the mid-17th century to the end of the 19th century, when the rope-making industry thrived in Boston. Concurrent walking tours that start in the West End and fan out across the city offer the opportunity to discover the remnants of the ropewalks’ footprints on Boston.
4. Live Music
Where/When: Nourish, 1727 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington; 8 to 10:30 p.m., Saturday, July 14
Why Go: Nourish Restaurant in Lexington Center serves up free live music alongside its regular dinner fare many weekend nights.

5. Circle The City
Where/When: 1 Franklin Park Rd, Dorchester; all day, Sunday, July 15
Why Go: Boston’s Circle The City, an Open Streets initiative connecting people to parks, launched a little ealier this summer and now comes to Franklin Park and Jamaica Pond.
