2. Exhibition: "Ropewalks of the West End and Beyond"
Where/When: West End Museum, 150 Staniford St, Boston; 12 to 4 p.m.; Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7
Why Go: This exhibit highlights the story of Robewalks, the unusual buildings that housed rope-making facilities during the mid-17th century to the end of the 19th century, when the rope-making industry thrived in Boston. Concurrent walking tours that start in the West End and fan out across the city offer the opportunity to discover the remnants of the ropewalks’ footprints on Boston.

Why Go: Becuase the 4th annual Adrian Martinez Classic is evening of one-mile races for all ages and all abilitiess, which aims to bring together the entire New England running community – from youth runners to seniors, from beginners to elites -- in memory of Adrian Martinez, a 2002 Concord-Carlisle grad  The evening begins with youth races for ages 5 and up, includes a “First-timers mile” for those who have never raced on the track before, and progresses through the age groups to the seniors races.

5. Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra Summer Pops Concert
Where/When: 433 Rogers St., Lowell; 3 p.m., Sunday, July 8
Why Go: The LPO will perform light classical, pops, and patriotic favorites!  Audience members should bring chairs, and perhaps a picnic to enjoy under the cool shade of the pavilion. (Park at the Pavilion, along Knapp Avenue or Boylston Street.)
