1. Munroe Center for the Arts Open House

Why Go: It's an open house at the Munroe Center for the Arts. In the Ceramics Studio, Carmela Goguen and friends and students will be having their annual Throw-a-Thon to make bowls for the December charity event, Empty Bowls. The rest of the building will be open with representation by the Dance Inn, Lexington School of Ballet, Lexington Music School, and demonstrations by Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do.

Why Go: Betty’s Bounce, a local jazz trio performing the evocative, toe-tapping music known as ‘Gypsy Jazz,’ will kick off the third season of the Munroe Saturday Nights performing arts series, according to Munroe.

3. Welcome to Modernity: Jews in the Public Sphere

Why Go: Professor Jacob Meskin, academic director of Hebrew College’s Me’ah program, will present a free public lecture and discussion on a particularly interesting moment in the history of modern Jewry: the entrance of Jews into the public life of the European nation-state.
