Don't miss the final presentation in Munroe Saturday Nights' 2012 season: A staged reading of llaywright Merrill Meadow's gripping drama, "Purple Hearts."

This production will be presented on Saturday, May 12th at 7:30 p.m., at , 7 Harrington Road.  The performance benefits  two local arts organizations -- ' Community Programs and the Sheltering Arts program (which brings writing and performance experiences to women in the South Middlesex Correctional Center). The performance will be followed by a dessert reception and a conversation with the director and actors.

"Purple Hearts" will be directed by award-winning playwright, director, and actress Melinda Lopez, and features Lexington actors Regie O'Hare Gibson and Don Cohen in the cast, along with some of Boston's finest professional performers.

A new cornerstone for Meadow's Camden Trilogy, "Purple Hearts" offers a prism through which the members of one extended family struggle to define themselves and their place in history -- and to explore their capacities for both healing and forgiveness. (Because the play has a smattering of unsavory language, it may not be appropriate for children under 13.)

"Purple Hearts" is being presented at First Parish in Lexington in order to accommodate a larger audience.  Free parking is available at the rear of the building, which is handicapped accessible.

The suggested donation for this benefit performance is $25/person.  Reservations are strongly recommended for this event, and can be made by emailing: saturdays@munroecenter.org. Plan to arrive at First Parish by 7:10 to claim reservations.
