Upscale Consignment Shop to Open in Lexington

Designer labels where Walden Books used to be.

The woman behind Revolve Belmont is bringing labels back to Lexington Center.

A popular upscale consignment shop with two locations in neighboring Belmont, storeowner Lisa Castagno said Revolve offers boutique quality without boutique prices.

“I’ve tried to create a very welcoming, friendly shopping environment for women to come in and shop in a low-pressure place where they can find really nice pieces for really nice value,” said Castagno.

There’s been a sign in the window of 1709 Mass Ave. advertising the arrival of Revolve for several weeks now. Despite what the sign says, the store will start accepting consignments on Monday, April 23, and with a full opening scheduled for May 1.

Lexington shoppers can expect no-appointment-necessary consignment and an inventory of secondhand better-label brands—names like DVF, Tory Burch and Christian Louboutin—that changes by the day.

“It’s what you’d find in a department store, but we sell them for one-third of the price,” said Castagno. “It’s consignment without appointment, so it’s something different every day; in Belmont Center, we get new items every hour.”

Revolve Belmont was born two years ago in Cushing Square and last year opened a second location in Belmont Center. The two locations attract consigners and shoppers from Cambridge, Concord, Weston, Winchester and everywhere in between, and Castagno believes Revolve will enjoy similar success in Lexington.

“I remember when Lexington Center actually had some nice shopping, and I always thought it was really sad that the retail shopping had diminished,” said Catagno.  “But I think it’s a really busy, bustling area, and seeing all the people here, all the foot traffic, I thought this was an area where we could really fit in.”

Consignments will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning next Monday, April 23. For more information, visit http://revolvebelmont.com/.
