Vine Brook Tavern Hosting Grand Opening Party Tonight

The new Waltham Street eatery, which offers a menu of upscale American tavern cuisine, opened softly earlier this month and is doing it with more fanfare tonight, Nov. 28.

The Lexington Center restaurant scene is eclectic to say the least, with a quintessentially American eatery as the latest addition to round out the roster.

Vine Brook Tavern opened softly a little earlier this month, but has its “grand opening” party scheduled to pop off at 7 p.m. tonight, Nov. 28.

According to Marcus Palmer, the establishment’s owner/operator, tonight’s the night Vine Brook Tavern announces itself to local media and the who’s who of Lexington.

“We have invited Town Hall reps, investors, local Lexington VIPs, restaurant people [and] press to attend the party here on Wednesday,” Palmer wrote in an email to Patch.

The opening events will be replete with featured cocktails and passed apps and the like.

About Vine Brook Tavern

According to Palmer, Vine Brook Tavern’s menu, like its name, respects American tradition with a bit of a modern twist. And the drink menu includes a selection of 24 beers and 24 wines, along with some signature cocktails.

Chef Chris Frothingham’s menu includes regional, yet updated takes on roasted chicken, steaks and fish. In the case of the meatloaf, for instance, there’s a crust of porcini mushrooms.

The restaurant will seat about 130, with private event availability for parties of anywhere from 14 to 40. Hours of operation will be for dinners from 5 to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with a bar menu available until 11 p.m. on Sundays, dinner will be from 4 to 9 p.m. with the bar likely open until 11 p.m. Vine Brook Tavern will also offer a Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunch and brunch, with service from about 11:45 a.m. through 3 p.m. on those days.

In a previous interview with Patch, Palmer said Vine Brook Tavern will strive to offer an accessible menu, hospitable service and a welcoming environment fit for an evening out or larger family events.

“We expect people to do multiple courses here,” he said. “It’s not going to be a turn-and-burn. For us, dining is leisurely.”

According to Palmer, Vine Brook Tavern’s pricepoints will have appetizers start in single digits and entrees in the $17 to $25 range and specials a bit above that.
