Five Things:

A quick look at five things to see, do and know today in Lexington.

1. Flatbread Pizza Night to benefit Maria Hastings PTA: Eat in or take out, but if you're eating pizza tonight do it at the Bedford Flatbread Pizza, because each pizza sold after 5 p.m. the Hastings PTA will receive a portion of the cost -- and they use those funds to support various enrichment programs for students, families and staff.

2. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, public meetings posted for today include: the Lexington 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee at 12:30 p.m. at Cary Hall, the Fund for Lexington Board at 4:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building, the School Committee at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building and the Conservation Commission at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building.

3. Veterans' Day Essay Contest: The Town Celebrations Committee has opened its annual Veterans' Day Essay Contest, which seeks submissions from students in grades 6-12, and asks writers to honor and raise awareness about our veterans with a contest for which submissions are accepted through Oct. 23. 4. Like Us on Facebook: For even more information and engagement, like Lexington Patch on Facebook. Over there, we'll be asking questions, looking for feedback and continuing the conversation with the Lexington community. See you soon!

5. Showers Today, Precipitation Overnight: Increasing clouds are in the forceast, but the temperatures should hit a high of 75, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts possible showers and a likely drizzle overnight with a low of 59.
