Five Things:

A quick look at five things to see, do and know today in Lexington.

1. Flatbread Pizza Night to benefit Maria Hastings PTA: Eat in or take out, but if you're eating pizza tonight do it at the Bedford Flatbread Pizza, because each pizza sold after 5 p.m. the Hastings PTA will receive a portion of the cost -- and they use those funds to support various enrichment programs for students, families and staff.

2. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, public meetings posted for today include: the Lexington 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee at 12:30 p.m. at Cary Hall, the Fund for Lexington Board at 4:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building, the School Committee at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building and the Conservation Commission at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building.

3. Veterans' Day Essay Contest: The Town Celebrations Committee has opened its annual Veterans' Day Essay Contest, which seeks submissions from students in grades 6-12, and asks writers to honor and raise awareness about our veterans with a contest for which submissions are accepted through Oct. 23.
