Five Things: A Globe Writer Shares His Rooster Story

A quick look at what you need to see, do and know on Dec. 5 in Lexington.

1. Brian McGrory at Cary Library: At 7 p.m. tonight at Cary Memorial Library, the Boston Globe columnist Brian McGrory will discuss his new memoir, Buddy: How a Rooster Made Me a Family Man, a heart-warming and hilarious tale about his “head to beak” battle with a very aggressive and obnoxious rooster.

2. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town webiste, public meetings posted for today include a National Grid/NStar public hearing at 2 p.m. in Boston, the Council on Aging Board at 3 p.m. at the Lexington Senior Center, the Tourism Committee's Antony Working Group at 7 p.m. at the Town Office Building, the Town Celebrations Committee at 7 p.m. at the DPW Building and the Planning Board at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building. 

3. Lexington Youth Lacrosse Spring Registration: Registration is now open to the general public for Lexington Youth Lacrosse's spring season, which runs from March through mid-June. All Lexington residents in grades 1 through 8 are eligible to play, and online registration, as well as complete program descriptions by grade and gender, are posted over at lexingtonlax.org.

4. Businesses, Claim Your Listings: Are you a Lexington business looking to amp up your profile in the community? Follow these easy steps laid out by Natick Patch editor Justin Saglio, who created this terrific video to walk local business owners through claiming a business listing on Patch, and you'll be able to check stats on ratings, respond to reviews, edit and add info and manage photos and other media.

5. Rain and Temps Fall: Showers are expected early, as temperatures peak in the mid-50s around 10 a.m. and fall afterwards, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts a clear evening with overnight lows in the 20s.
