A quick look at what you need to see, do and know on Jan. 30 in Lexington.

1. Question & Answer Evening with Lexington’s State Representatives: At 7 p.m. tonight at Cary Hall, Lexington’s representatives to the State Legislature, Senators Michael Barrett and Ken Donnelly and Representative Jay Kaufman will answer your questions, in an evening sponsored by the Lexington Town Meeting Members Association and the League of Women Voters of Lexington, and moderated by Lexington Town Meeting Moderator Deborah Brown.

2. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, the only public meeting posted for today is the School Committee at 7:30 p.m. at Harrington School and its agenda, among other things, includes a discussion of the fiscal 2014 budget.

3. "Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai": At 7 p.m. tonight at Cary Library, you're invited to take in a documentary that tells the dramatic story of Kenyan Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Wangari Maathai, whose simple act of planting trees grew into a nationwide movement to safeguard the environment, protect human rights and defend democracy
