Five Things: Public Safety, Poetry and More

A quick look at what you need to see, do and know on Jan. 4 in Lexington.

1. First Friday Forum: The League of Women Voters of Lexington's First Friday Forum, to be held at 9:15 a.m. this morning at Cary Memorial Library, will focus on Lexington’s Public Safety Network and how our community handles different types of safety issues including crisis intervention.Police Chief Mark Corr, Fire Chief John Wilson and Human Services Director Charlotte Rogers will present.

2. Poems For My Coloring Book: At 7 p.m. tonight at the Lexington Depot, this Lexington Community Education event promises "A Celebration of Sound & Vision" featuring a reading by Lexington poet Marcia Steere and music of the Wayside Quartet, a Concord-based outfit that performs classical and popular music. Costs $5 and you can register using a MasterCard or VISA, by contacting Lexington Community Education at 781-862-8043.

3. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, the only public meeting posted for today is the Capital Expenditures Committee at 12 p.m. at the Town Office Building.
