Five Things: Storytelling, Fuel Assistance and More

A quick look at what you need to see, do and know today in Lexington.

1. : Since the advent of “smart phones” the pace has picked up and generations are defined by the technology they use. At 7 p.m. tonight, Youville Place Assisted Living Residence staff and residents will explore the different ways people have used to communicate, from the Pony Express to texting.

2. Selectmen Meet Tonight: The Board of Selectmen is scheduled to meet at 6:55 p.m. tonight and its agenda includes Traffic Safety Advisory Committee recommendations, proposed Community Preservation Act capital requests and proposed operating and capital budget adjustments for fiscal 2013.

3. Other Public Meetings Posted for Today: According to the town website, other public meetings posted for today include the Maria Hastings Site Council at 7:45 a.m. at the school, the Lexington Council for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. at the Munroe Center for the Arts and the Community Center Task Force at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building.

4. Fuel Assistance for Eligible Lexington Residents: The Fuel Assistance Program, a program that helps with the cost of heating your home, accepts new applications from Nov. 1 through April 30, 2013. Call the town of Lexington Senior Center/Human Services Department at 781-861-0194 to schedule an appointment and/or to inquire about the program.

5. Clear But Cooler: Should be mostly sunny today, with a high of 44, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts a clear evening with a low of 26.
