Five Things: The Return of Philosophy, An Instrumental Concoert

A quick look at what you need to see, do and know today in Lexington.

1. Fall Instrumental Concert: At 7:30 p.m. tonight at Lexington High School, the LHS Wind Ensemble, which made its debut at the opening ceremonies of the Lexington’s 300th celebration, along with the Chamber Orchestra and the Concert Band will perform a fall insturmental concert. 

2. The Return of Philosophy: An Evening with Jacob Needleman: Lexington Commuity Education welcomes Jacob Needleman, acclaimed philosopher and author of The American Soul, The Essential Marcus Aurelius, Lost Christianity, and Money and the Meaning of Life. His talk will be at 7 p.m. tonight at Follen Community Church. It costs $10 and preregistration using a MasterCard or VISA is strongly recommended by contacting LCE at 781-862-8043.

3. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, public meetings posted for today include the Retirement Board at 8 a.m. at Cary Memorial Library, the Community Preservation Committee at 3 p.m. at Cary Hall, the Lexington Housing Partnership at 7:30 p.m. at Cary Hall and the Board of Appeals at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building.
