Five Things You Need to Know Today: May 2

A student art show opens, a May Day celebration made up at the Community Colonial Sing, meetings and more today in Lexington.

1. : The Lexington Public Schools' annual student art show opens today,  showcasing student artwork from elementary, middle and high school level students in the district. The show will be open to the public at the Central Office (146 Maple St.) during business hours on May 2, 3, 4 and 7.

2. A May Day Do-Over and : Due to the wet and chilly weather, the May Day Celebration planned for yesterday afternoon was postponed until this afternoon. So you can head to the Depot for 4 p.m. to dance around the Maypole, plant your May Day baskets and make paper flowers before the at 7:30 p.m.

3. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, public meetings posted for today include the Community Preservation Committee at 4 p.m. at the Town Office Building and the Trustees of Cary Library at 5 p.m. at Cary Memorial Library.

4. Tomorrow's Event, Previewed Today: Special needs families in need of help getting organized may want to check out at 10 a.m. tomorrow, May 3, at .

5. Aint No Sunshine: Patchy fog early and then a mostly cloudy day with a high of only 56, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts more clouds overnight and a low of 44.
